Become a Table Captain

Dear Friends of the Holocaust Center,

We would like to ask you to be a table captain at our annual fundraising luncheon be held on Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 at the Westin Seattle from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. This year we are honoring Leo Hymas, a local liberator of Buchenwald Concentration Camp and a tireless speaker and advocate for the Center for the past 11 years. Leo speaks to thousands of students and community groups each year about his experience and the critical importance of Holocaust education and human rights.

Last year, we had the most successful fundraiser yet! We hope to have another successful event this year, but to do that, we need your help. The success of any organization’s fundraising efforts in an event of this kind is directly related to the commitment of the table captains in putting table together. We hope that you will begin asking people NOW so that you can have a table of 10 people for the event.

You and your guests will be inspired by the commitment Leo has made to Holocaust education in Washington as he has sought to make a meaningful connection between his wartime experience and today’s youth. You will learn more about how the Holocaust Center’s ongoing programs and events inspire teachers and community leaders. You will also spend a lunch with good friends and an inspiring presenter.

The participation of table captains is critical to making our event a success. Table Captain responsibilities include:

  1. Sponsor (buy) or fill a table (invite people) of 10 people. The cost is $50.00 per person for lunch with a suggested minimum gift of $150.00. We are asking table captains who are able, to support this effort by purchasing the table for $500 and then encouraging your guests to make the suggested donation. Our goal is to bring new people to learn about the important work of the Holocaust Center.
  2. Ensure that your guests send in their RSVP cards/payment to the Center by the deadline.
  3. Provide the Center with your list of guests (please email them to: admin@wsherc.org). Provide the Center with email contacts whenever possible.
  4. Follow-up with your guests reminding them to attend and sit with you.
  5. Pass out and then collect completed pledge cards at your table.
  6. Know that you have made a difference!!

For more information, please contact the Center at 206-441-5747 or email: admin@wsherc.org for more information.

We hope to see you and your guests at the event on October 29, 2008!

Sincerely,

Laurie Warshal Cohen and Dee Simon
Co-Executive Directors
